Generation Connect
Terms of Use
Last updated 2026-09-07
Please read these Terms carefully before creating an account, enrolling in a program, booking GC Tech Support, or using Generation Connect services.
Welcome to Generation Connect.
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Generation Connect website, platform, programs, GC Tech Support services, training, certifications, communications, and related services offered by Generation Connect, Inc. (“Generation Connect,” “GC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account, accepting these Terms, enrolling in a program, booking GC Tech Support, or otherwise using our services, you agree to these Terms.
If you are under 18 years old, your parent or legal guardian must provide any consent required by Generation Connect before you may participate. Certain provisions of these Terms may also require acceptance by your parent or guardian.
These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy and any separate consent, program, payment, background-screening, partner, or participation agreement that applies to you.
1. About Generation Connect
Generation Connect is an intergenerational platform and community that connects trained youth “Tech Navigators” with older adults, whom we call “Seasoned Adults,” through technology education, one-to-one technology support, workforce development, community service, and intergenerational programming.
GC currently provides both facilitated group programs and private, one-to-one GC Tech Support. The rebuilt platform is designed to allow Seasoned Adults to choose guided programs or book individualized support with certified Tech Navigators.
Some programs or services may be sponsored by schools, government agencies, workforce organizations, community organizations, foundations, employers, or other partners. Other services may require payment directly by the participant.
The availability, price, duration, eligibility requirements, and features of a particular service may vary.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
You must provide accurate and current information when applying, creating an account, booking services, or otherwise interacting with Generation Connect.
You may not impersonate another person, create an account using another person’s information without authorization, or provide materially false information.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity occurring through your account. Please notify Generation Connect promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
GC may require email verification, identity or eligibility information, references, parental or guardian consent, safety screening, training, certification, or other requirements before allowing access to particular services.
Creating an account does not guarantee acceptance into a program, assignment to a Tech Navigator, paid work, volunteer opportunities, certification, or access to every GC service.
3. Tech Navigators and Participants Under 18
Many Generation Connect Tech Navigators are minors.
Applicants under 18 must obtain parent or legal guardian consent before participating when required by GC. The rebuild documentation specifically provides for parental consent before a minor Tech Navigator can begin participating.
A parent or legal guardian providing consent confirms that they have authority to consent to the minor’s participation and agrees to comply with applicable GC participation and safety requirements.
To the extent permitted by law, a parent or guardian accepting these Terms in connection with a minor’s participation agrees to the provisions applicable to that parent or guardian. Nothing in these Terms is intended to eliminate any right that a minor cannot legally waive.
Generation Connect may establish age requirements for particular programs, employment or contractor opportunities, community-service opportunities, certifications, or GC Tech Support assignments.
4. Community Safety Screening
Because Generation Connect brings adults and minors together, GC uses safety screening as part of its community safeguards.
Participants age 18 and older may be required to complete a public-records safety screening before participating in GC programs or services. GC’s current screening design uses identifying information such as legal name and date of birth and is intended to examine relevant publicly available criminal records. GC does not intend to require a Social Security number, driver’s-license number, state identification number, immigration or citizenship documents, credit-history information, or bank-account information for this screening.
When applicable law requires a separate disclosure, authorization, notice, or other procedure in connection with a background or consumer report, that separate process will control. These Terms are not intended to substitute for any legally required screening authorization.
Completion of a screening does not guarantee acceptance into the GC community. Generation Connect may consider safety, program requirements, partner requirements, applicable law, and other relevant factors when determining eligibility.
5. Guided Generation Connect Programs
GC programs may include facilitated live sessions, technology instruction, activities, assessments, surveys, quizzes, small-group or breakout-room activities, and intergenerational conversations.
Current guided programs may consist of seven facilitated live sessions conducted over approximately one month, although program format may vary by partner or program.
Participants are expected to treat one another respectfully and comply with facilitator instructions and applicable program rules.
GC may change schedules, facilitators, Tech Navigators, lesson content, cohort assignments, session formats, or other program details when reasonably necessary.
Some programs are funded or sponsored by third parties and may be offered to participants at no charge. Participation in a sponsored program does not create a right to future free services.
6. GC Tech Support
GC Tech Support provides individualized technology guidance from a trained and appropriately certified Tech Navigator.
Seasoned Adults may request help with devices, applications, online services, settings, technology skills, or other supported topics. GC may match a user with a Tech Navigator based on certification, skills, availability, or other relevant factors. The rebuilt service is specifically designed around topic-based certification and private live appointments.
GC Tech Support is an instructional and assistance service. Purchasing or receiving a session does not guarantee that every device, account, application, network, technical problem, or third-party service can be repaired or resolved.
Tech Navigators are expected to guide participants through steps rather than take unrestricted control of their devices or accounts.
Service Resolution Guarantee
If a paid GC Tech Support session does not resolve the technology problem, the participant may request one additional session at no charge with a senior, advanced, or otherwise appropriately qualified Tech Navigator or GC representative.
That second session is intended to make a good-faith additional attempt and determine whether the issue can reasonably be resolved through GC Tech Support.
The original fee is not automatically refundable merely because the underlying technical problem cannot ultimately be resolved, provided GC delivered the purchased session and, when applicable, the complimentary follow-up described above.
This guarantee does not apply where resolution is prevented by circumstances outside GC’s reasonable control, including hardware failure, unsupported devices, lost credentials, inaccessible accounts, third-party outages, manufacturer restrictions, fraud-prevention controls, discontinued products, malware requiring professional remediation, or refusal by the participant to follow necessary troubleshooting steps.
7. Screen Sharing and Device Access
Screen sharing may be available during GC Tech Support but is optional. The rebuilt platform expressly presents screen sharing as an optional feature.
Participants should close or conceal private information before sharing a screen whenever possible.
Tech Navigators should not request passwords, full payment-card numbers, Social Security numbers, banking credentials, authentication codes, private keys, PINs, or other highly sensitive credentials.
Participants should enter passwords and security codes themselves.
Generation Connect does not authorize Tech Navigators to transfer money, purchase investments, make bank transactions, initiate cryptocurrency transfers, change beneficiaries, prepare legal documents, impersonate a participant, or access financial accounts on a participant’s behalf.
A participant should immediately stop a session and contact GC if anyone requests information or conduct inconsistent with these rules.
8. Payments and Pricing
Some Generation Connect services are free or sponsored. Others require payment.
Prices, taxes, subscription terms, promotional terms, and included services will be disclosed before purchase. The price displayed at the time of checkout controls unless there is an obvious pricing error.
Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. GC does not necessarily receive or retain your complete payment-card information.
You authorize GC and its payment processor to charge the payment method you provide for purchases you affirmatively authorize.
Tips, when offered, are optional and are not required to receive GC Tech Support. The rebuild feedback provides for an optional tipping opportunity after GC Tech Support.
9. Subscriptions and Automatic Renewal
If you purchase a recurring GC subscription, the subscription will automatically renew at the frequency and price disclosed to you at checkout until you cancel it.
Before you purchase, GC will clearly disclose the material recurring-payment terms and obtain your affirmative consent to those terms.
California’s current Automatic Renewal Law requires businesses to obtain express affirmative consent, clearly disclose recurring terms, send required reminders, and provide straightforward cancellation. Online subscribers must be able to cancel online without obstruction or delay.
Cancellation of a Subscription
You may cancel a subscription at any time through the online cancellation method available through your GC account or through another cancellation method GC is legally required to provide.
Cancellation stops future recurring charges.
Unless otherwise stated at purchase or required by law, your subscription benefits remain available through the end of the billing period you already paid for.
Cancelling a subscription does not ordinarily result in a prorated refund for the unused portion of the current billing period.
If GC makes a material change to subscription terms or price, GC will provide any notice and obtain any consent required by applicable law.
GC will also provide renewal or annual reminder notices when required by law.
10. GC Tech Support Cancellation, Rescheduling, No-Shows and Refunds
This section applies to individually purchased GC Tech Support appointments unless different terms are clearly disclosed before purchase.
Cancellation by the Participant
You may cancel a scheduled paid GC Tech Support appointment for a full refund if the cancellation is made at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time.
Refunds will ordinarily be returned to the original payment method.
Rescheduling
You may reschedule without charge if the request is made at least 24 hours before the appointment.
If you need to change an appointment within 24 hours of the scheduled time, GC may permit one courtesy rescheduling rather than forfeiting the session, subject to availability.
Repeated late cancellations may be treated as used sessions or may require a new booking.
No-Show or Very Late Arrival
If a participant does not attend the appointment and has not cancelled or rescheduled, the appointment is considered a no-show and is ordinarily nonrefundable.
GC may consider exceptional circumstances at its discretion.
If a participant joins substantially late, the session may still end at the originally scheduled end time.
Cancellation by Generation Connect or the Tech Navigator
If GC or the assigned Tech Navigator cannot provide the appointment, GC may first attempt to provide a qualified replacement Tech Navigator or mutually acceptable rescheduled appointment.
The internal GC workflow already provides for replacement coverage when an assigned Tech Navigator cancels, including urgent escalation for cancellations within 30 minutes of a scheduled session.
If GC cannot provide an acceptable replacement or rescheduled appointment, the participant may choose either:
(a) a full refund of the amount paid for that session; or (b) a full account credit for future GC services.
Processing of Refunds
Approved refunds will be submitted promptly by GC, but the time required for funds to appear in your account may depend on your bank or payment processor.
Nothing in this section limits any refund right provided by applicable law.
11. Session Recordings
GC Tech Support
All GC Tech Support sessions are recorded for safety, accountability, quality assurance, dispute review, and related operational purposes.
Participants will be informed of the recording requirement before or when joining the session.
California generally requires consent of all parties before recording a confidential communication, so GC should obtain clear recording consent before a participant enters a recorded one-to-one session.
If a participant does not consent to recording, GC may be unable to provide GC Tech Support through that format.
Guided Program Sessions
GC does not necessarily record an entire guided program session. GC may record portions of group sessions.
The facilitator will notify participants before recording begins.
A participant who does not wish to appear in a recorded portion may turn off their camera and refrain from participating during that portion, or follow other instructions provided by the facilitator.
No Automatic Marketing Permission
Consent to an operational or safety recording does not by itself authorize GC to use a participant’s name, likeness, voice, image, testimonial, or recording for advertising or promotional purposes.
GC will obtain separate permission when required before using identifiable participant content for marketing or promotional purposes.
12. Communications, Email, SMS and Push Notifications
GC may send service-related communications concerning account security, applications, program enrollment, appointments, cancellations, certification, safety, or other operational matters.
Email and in-platform notices may be used when reasonably necessary to administer your account or services.
SMS/text communications are different. GC’s rebuild correctly provides a separate opt-in for optional texts rather than automatically enrolling users. The current signup flow also states that SMS consent is optional and is not a condition of purchase or service.
Where required, GC will obtain your affirmative consent before sending SMS messages.
You may withdraw SMS consent by following the instructions provided with the messages, including replying STOP when applicable.
Message and data rates may apply.
Opting out of optional texts does not prevent GC from communicating with you through other lawful methods when necessary to provide services you requested.
13. Standards of Conduct
Everyone using Generation Connect must contribute to a safe, respectful intergenerational environment.
You may not use GC to harass, threaten, intimidate, exploit, discriminate against, stalk, sexually harass, abuse, manipulate, deceive, or endanger another person.
You may not:
- request or share inappropriate sexual material;
- engage in romantic or sexual solicitation involving minors;
- request financial assistance, loans, investments, gifts, or transfers from another participant;
- ask another participant for banking credentials, passwords, PINs, authentication codes, Social Security numbers, or similar sensitive information;
- use GC to commit fraud, identity theft, hacking, unauthorized account access, piracy, or other illegal activity;
- record another participant except through GC-authorized functionality and with legally required consent;
- distribute another participant’s personal information without authorization;
- send malware or harmful code;
- intentionally disrupt a session;
- falsify attendance, service hours, certification results, ratings, qualifications, or payment information;
- use another person’s GC account; or
- circumvent GC safety, payment, certification, or matching systems.
GC may remove someone from a session or suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect participants or the platform.
14. No Off-Platform Circumvention or Paid Solicitation
GC invests substantial resources in recruiting, screening, training, certifying and matching Tech Navigators with Seasoned Adults.
Participants and Tech Navigators may not use GC to meet one another and then intentionally bypass GC to arrange substantially similar paid technology-support services outside the GC platform without GC’s authorization.
Tech Navigators may not solicit GC participants for private paid work arising from a GC connection unless authorized by GC.
Seasoned Adults may not ask a Tech Navigator, particularly a minor, to circumvent GC’s platform, safeguards, payment system or supervision for paid work.
This restriction is intended to protect participant safety and the integrity of GC services; it is not intended to prohibit ordinary friendships, appropriate community relationships, or lawful communications unrelated to competing paid services.
15. Tech Navigator Training, Certification and Opportunities
Tech Navigators may be required to complete training, certification tests, practical assessments, orientation, references, parental consent, safety procedures, or other requirements before becoming eligible for particular assignments.
Passing one certification does not guarantee access to every type of support request.
GC may establish or change certification standards and may require recertification.
The current rebuild uses an 80% certification threshold for specified assessments.
Community-service hours, stipends, wages, independent-contractor payments, workforce-program compensation, or other benefits depend on the Tech Navigator’s particular participation pathway and any applicable partner agreement.
Nothing in these Terms alone promises employment, a minimum number of hours, compensation, or any particular employment classification.
If a separate employment, contractor, workforce, stipend, or partner agreement applies, that agreement controls on those issues.
16. Ratings, Reviews and Feedback
Participants may be asked to rate or review sessions, facilitators, Tech Navigators or their overall GC experience.
GC may use ratings and feedback for quality assurance, training, recognition, safety review, eligibility, matching, and program improvement.
The current rebuild provides that Seasoned Adult ratings following GC Tech Support contribute to a Tech Navigator’s displayed or internal average rating.
You agree to provide feedback in good faith and not knowingly submit false, retaliatory, discriminatory, threatening, or defamatory reviews.
GC may remove feedback that violates these Terms or applicable law.
17. User Content
The platform may allow you to submit profile information, messages, reviews, survey responses, images, files, links, or other material (“User Content”).
You retain ownership of User Content you own.
You grant GC a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, transmit, and otherwise use User Content as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, administer, improve, and provide the GC services.
This license does not automatically authorize GC to use identifiable participant content in advertising. Marketing use is addressed separately in Section 11.
You represent that you have the right to submit content you provide and that doing so does not violate another person’s rights.
18. Generation Connect Intellectual Property
The Generation Connect name, brand, logos, curriculum, platform design, videos, training materials, certification materials, lessons, graphics, software, processes, written content, and other GC-created materials are owned by or licensed to Generation Connect unless otherwise stated.
You may use GC materials only for your personal participation in GC services or as otherwise authorized.
You may not copy, sell, publish, scrape, reverse engineer, commercially exploit, distribute, or create unauthorized derivative works from protected GC materials.
Tech Navigator certification questions and assessment materials may not be copied, photographed, posted, shared, or used to help another person cheat.
19. Third-Party Services
GC uses third-party technology and service providers to operate portions of the platform, which may include video services, payment processing, email, SMS, authentication, hosting, analytics, background-screening services, or other infrastructure.
Third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy practices.
GC is not responsible for failures caused solely by third-party systems outside GC’s reasonable control, although GC will make reasonable efforts to address disruptions affecting its services.
20. Technology, Internet and Equipment
You are responsible for obtaining compatible equipment, internet access, software, and other technology necessary to use GC unless GC or a sponsoring organization specifically agrees to provide them.
GC cannot guarantee uninterrupted internet connectivity, compatibility with every device, continued support for every third-party product, or uninterrupted operation of external websites or applications.
Participants should maintain backups of important data before performing troubleshooting that could affect files, settings or applications.
21. Not Professional Advice
GC Tech Navigators provide technology education and support.
They are not acting as lawyers, physicians, therapists, accountants, investment advisers, financial advisers, tax professionals, cybersecurity incident-response professionals, or other licensed professionals unless GC separately states otherwise.
Information provided through GC should not be treated as professional legal, medical, financial, tax or investment advice.
22. Emergency Situations
Generation Connect is not an emergency service.
Do not use GC Tech Support or program communications to seek emergency medical, law-enforcement, fire, mental-health crisis, or other emergency assistance.
Call 911 or the appropriate local emergency service when immediate assistance is required.
23. Suspension or Termination
GC may restrict, suspend or terminate an account or participation when reasonably necessary because of:
- violation of these Terms;
- safety concerns;
- fraud or suspected fraud;
- abusive behavior;
- inappropriate interactions involving minors;
- failure to complete required screening or consent;
- misuse of GC systems;
- payment disputes or chargebacks involving apparent fraud;
- falsification of qualifications or service hours;
- repeated disruption or no-shows; or
- legal, regulatory or partner requirements.
When circumstances permit, GC may provide notice or an opportunity to address the issue.
GC may act immediately where it reasonably believes participant safety, platform security or legal compliance requires it.
24. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GC services are provided on an “as available” basis.
GC does not promise that the platform will operate without interruption, that every Tech Navigator will be available at every requested time, that every technology issue will be solved, or that every third-party device, service, website or application will operate as expected.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.
25. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Generation Connect and its officers, directors, employees and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages arising from use of GC services.
Except where applicable law does not permit such a limitation, GC’s aggregate liability arising from a paid consumer service will not exceed the greater of:
(a) the amount you paid GC for the service giving rise to the claim during the twelve months preceding the event; or (b) $100.
This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability to the extent arising from fraud, willful misconduct, or other matters for which limitation is prohibited by law.
26. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, users other than consumers acting solely for personal household purposes agree to indemnify and hold harmless Generation Connect from third-party claims arising from their intentional misconduct, unlawful conduct, infringement of third-party rights, or material violation of these Terms.
This provision is not intended to waive or reduce rights granted to consumers under applicable law.
27. Informal Dispute Resolution
Before filing arbitration or a lawsuit, you and GC agree to make a reasonable good-faith effort to resolve the dispute informally.
A written notice should explain the dispute, relevant transaction or service, requested resolution, and contact information.
Either party will ordinarily have 30 days after receiving the notice to attempt informal resolution before initiating formal proceedings, unless a claim must be filed sooner to preserve a legal right.
28. Binding Individual Arbitration
Please read this section carefully. It affects how disputes may be resolved.
Except for disputes eligible for small claims court and matters that applicable law does not permit to be arbitrated, you and Generation Connect agree that disputes relating to the use, payment for, or provision of the GC goods or services covered by these Terms will be resolved through binding individual arbitration rather than a jury trial.
This limitation is intentionally tied to the GC service governed by these Terms. California Civil Code §1670.15, effective January 1, 2026, provides that dispute-resolution provisions in consumer-use agreements must be limited to the use, payment or provision of the goods or services covered by the agreement.
Arbitration will be administered by a nationally recognized arbitration provider under consumer arbitration rules applicable at the time the claim is filed.
GC will not require a consumer to bear arbitration costs that the law requires GC to pay.
The arbitrator may award the same individual remedies that would otherwise be available in court, subject to applicable law.
Small Claims
Either party may bring an eligible individual claim in small claims court rather than arbitration.
No Class or Representative Proceedings
To the fullest extent permitted by law, disputes subject to arbitration must be brought on an individual basis and not as a class, collective, consolidated, private-attorney-general or representative proceeding.
If applicable law prohibits enforcement of this limitation for a particular claim or remedy, that issue will be handled as required by law.
Arbitration Opt-Out
You may opt out of the arbitration agreement by sending GC written notice within 30 days after the first date you accept these Terms.
Your notice must include your name, account email address, and a clear statement that you are opting out of the arbitration provision.
Opting out of arbitration will not affect your ability to use Generation Connect.
29. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except to the extent federal law governs an issue.
For disputes not subject to arbitration and not eligible for small claims court, jurisdiction and venue will lie in an appropriate state or federal court serving Los Angeles County, California, unless applicable consumer law requires otherwise.
30. Changes to These Terms
GC may update these Terms as services, technology or legal requirements change.
When changes are material, GC will provide notice as required by law.
Changes will not retroactively eliminate accrued legal rights.
If applicable law requires affirmative consent to a particular change, GC will obtain that consent before the change applies.
31. Severability
If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
An unenforceable provision should be interpreted or limited as necessary to make it enforceable rather than invalidating these Terms as a whole, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
32. Entire Agreement and Additional Terms
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any additional terms or consent forms expressly applicable to a service constitute the agreement governing that service.
A school district, workforce agency, sponsoring organization, employer or other partner may have separate requirements.
If a separate written agreement between GC and you expressly conflicts with these Terms, the more specific agreement controls with respect to that subject.
